A thousand times I've failed Still Your mercy remains And should I stumble again I'm caught in Your grace Everlasting Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending Your glory goes beyond all fame
Your will above all else My purpose remains The art of losing myself In bringing You praise Everlasting Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart and my soul Lord I give You control Consume me from the inside out Lord let justice and praise Become my embrace To love you from the inside out
Everlasting Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending Your glory goes beyond all fame And the cry of my heart Is to bring You praise From the inside out Lord my soul cries out

hey everyone..
real sorry this place has been all cobwebs and stuff for ages. just a brief update of what has been happening this few months (kinda good for me to reflect and view in retrospect too):
I HAVE.........
1)Completed my A-levels (GOOD RIDDANCE!) 2)been accepted into NUS 3)shaved bald 3 times in seven weeks (bloody life) 4)repaired tanks for the last 4 months 5)been nothing but melancholic.
its not that i'm complaining bout my fate in life regarding my future. its just that everytime i pull on green clothes, i just get so jaded.
i feel like a misfit in my current section. and i just feel awkward around this one guy. its been so long since i've felt less of myself, inferior, just so lousy bout myself. i'm not intimidated by him. i know he doesn't like me and thats totally fine. but i've never insulted or stepped on his toes, so why does he have to hate me? friends around me tell me he doesnt really have a reason and that just makes it all harsher to take in. At first, when i was all oblivious to it, i felt ok, comfortable, in the drving seat, in control of my life. But Knowledge here seems to have crippled me. why? i am so meek. but i really dont want to be. it hurts too much.
my unit posting order will come on the 27th august. really hope i dont have him around in my section.. want to be comfortable and all again. want my other army friends who have been separated from me back again. i hate all this politicking around. its just ridiculous and farcical. felt so much more relieved when i met up with michael and he assured me that all was well and all that encouragement that i can ride this storm. Thanks buddy for being there, really appreciate that alot.
and all you friends out there in the civilian world, hope to hear a shoutout from you soon.. life can be really sad in the lowly gallows of the GREEN PRISON without all of you around.
SHOUTOUT!: to everyone who has crossed my path in life at one point another, thank you for your smiles. i keep them all in a treasure box deep within.....

ahh.. down to the last two papers.. really feeling the distress loosen up a fair bit.
i think singaporeans are some really funny creatures (and i know that includes me as well). recently the straits times published an article discussing a particularly serious issue. well, in the context of such a global city of singapore, it really makes me wonder why such an issue CAN even surface. there has been complaints from commuters that MRT trains are getting too congested nowadays. now, isn't that getting a little too grousy? the article went on to interview some expatriates based in singapore, asking for their views about the complaint. with rather fair reason, they pointed out that singapore really has no reason for complain at all. and i fully second that. having travelled to other countries myself(and i'm not talking bout developing cities per se), i sure do know that the situation can get much much worse in other countries. not just any other cities, but the big ones especially. i mean, isn't it a good sign that the city is bustling with people? it shows that there is $$$ to be made in singapore, so why complain?
you know, i can really just imagine an expatriate picking up that paper and reading that article. i'm just trying so hard to capture that expression on his/ her face right now.. can you? would your expression be just like his or hers?
one of the expats pointed out another thing. he pointed out that singapore's transport system is already rather efficient compared to other glbalised cities, citing that the new york metro would sometimes even have to skip stops just because the trains were too full, thus only stopping at major stations. and here i have to give a big WELL DONE to the local government here, for a well planned system. however, i aint saying that there is no room for improvement. i mean, i surely wouldnt complain if more bus routes were made available from my home to town; or if i had a more accesible route on the mrt to take the nel. (presently, i have to take the eastwest train down from tampines to dhoby ghaut or outram park to make that switch). i mean think about it.. from tampines to punggol and what a round around the little red dot it takes to get there.
i cant see any reason why not. why wont foreigners think that singapore is a small province in china (obscurity, im not being prejudiced) if we cant follow a simple international rule of etiquette: STAND ON THE LEFT WHEN ON THE ESCALATOR. the right side is always the rush side. such is the beauty of the unspoken rule that singaporeans follow so little of. i remember faintly campaigns to promote this, but i guess they werent really effective as we dont really see them anymore. haha.
hey i may be guilty a few times too of standing on the right, but at least i'll give way if i see ppl trying to get ahead behind me? hmmm i think if we could all be more ettiquette conscious in this respect, we may earn a great deal of respect from the global community, so why not?

was at the national library today, at the lee kong chian reference library. i found this rather interesting pictorial collection of hong kong's walled city in kowloon. its so so amazing. ppl in there, even till today, seem to be living in a completely different world of their own, with little or no connection at all with the hustle and bustle of the new city. the fortress itself embodies a magnificence and beauty that cannot be disjunct from the strong sense of poignancy. truly remarkable. but this to me is really a reflection of the sad sad slippery slope of the post modern world. as the mainstream progresses, many fall through cracks. and are forgotten.
all the memories of the missions trip last year just seem to be flooding back now. the kids in the slums, the heavy industry suburbs, the genuine mood of sadness mingled with acceptance. i think many of you reading this will not believe it, but many people, even in countries that are doing well, are merely living through a hole in the wall. i will never forget that moment i travelled through one of that hole, in the suburbs of bangkok. it opened my eyes to whole new world. on one side of the wall are the middle working class living in huge bungalows. through that hole in the wall, you have a canal network of stagnant water that people bathe, cook, drink, do their toilet in. and this is how they live. some slums have it better den others. but some are just in such a sorry state. if only. if only. if only. we could break down that wall.
